1 ) Sıfatların üç hali vardır

2) Tek heceli sıfatlar ( one syllable adjectives )  comparative karşılaştırma yaparken -er , superlative  (en derecesinde ) kullanılırken  -est takısı alırlar

  brave                 braver               the bravest

  short                  shorter             the shortest

​

3) üç veya daha fazla heceli sıfatlar  comparison yaparken more, superlative yaparken  the most takılarını alırlar

   interesting    more interesting   the most interesting

   frightening    more frightening  the most frightening

​

4) 2 heceli sıfatlar dan sonu  -ful  veya -re ile bitenler genellikle önlerine more ve most takısı alırlar

    doubtful   more  doubtful        the most doubtful

    obscure    more obscure           the most obscure 

​

​

5) 2 heceli sıfatlardan sonları  -er , - y, -ly ile bitenler genellikle -er ,-est takısı alırlar

  clever    cleverer    the cleverest

  pretty    prettier     the prettiest

​

6) düzensiz sıfatlar : bu sıfatlar hiç bir kurala uymaz.

                             further                   the furthest  ( uzaklık anlamında değilse )

                           older                         the oldest (insanlar ve diğer şeyler için )

 

ÖNEMLİ OLAN

yukarıdaki kuralların dışındaki iki heceli ve daha çok heceli sıfatlar more ve most ile birlikte kullanılırlar

Aşağıdaki küçük kuralları da   biliniz ama  5. kural haricinde üzerinde çok da takılmayınız

1) -e ile biten sıfarlat   -er, -est değil   -r , -st takısı alırlar

     safe              safer          the safest

2) tek sesli + sessiz bir harfle  biten sıfatlar  (sonu y ve w olanlar hariç ) son harfleri tekrar eder.

   big           bigger    the bigger

   hot            hotter   the hottest 

​

3) sonu -le ile biten sıfartlar da  -r,-st takısı alırlar

  simple   simpler   the simplest

  noble     nobler    the noblest 

​

**4) sonu -er , -le , -ow ,-some ile biten bazı iki heceli sıfatlar iki türlü de kullanılabilir

clever      cleverer              the cleverest

                 more clever       the most clever

narrow    narrower           the narrowest

                 more narrow     the most narrow

​

5) less more  un    the least     the most un zıt anlamlısıdır

​

   more important        X          less important

  the most important    X         the least important

​

  Istanbul is more crowded than Ankara . 

  Ankara is less crowded than Istanbul.
